Recently, Samsung made fun of Apple for being slow to release a foldable iPhone. Apple appears to have no plans to release a foldable iPhone anytime soon, and the company has yet to comment on this jab. Still, a Chinese fan has folded his iPhone into a smartphone. So, check out this cool model that someone constructed in their spare time!
The iPhone V is the fan-created name for the foldable iPhone smartphone (not to be confused with the iPhone 5). This model’s clamshell foldable display is inspired by the final product of the DIY foldable iPhone fan project. An unofficial folding iPhone was demonstrated in a video posted to Bili Bili, a Chinese video-sharing website with a large user base. The movie also displays the inner workings of other foldable smartphones with a clamshell design, such as the Galaxy Z Flip and the Moto Razr. The fan’s design philosophy can be seen in how they split the iPhone in two and then joined the two parts together.

The battery and the sensors for the front and rear cameras are located in the upper half, while the main motherboard with the SoC and RAM is located in the lower half. Even though this fan project took a year to complete, it is still just a prototype and won’t compare to a genuine, finished product from a major tech giant. In spite of this, the enthusiast utilized a 3D printer to create a protective case for his folding iPhone. The final product displays a fully operational iPhone with a foldable display, a camera, and other essential features.

The fan created a bogus promotional film in which the smartphone is shown to have 5G connectivity and an A16 Bionic chipset. The display is a foldable Super Retina XDR panel, and the front of the smartphone features a 12-megapixel camera for taking selfies. Also included are a Ceramic Shield and a camera arrangement similar to the Pro series. Longer battery life is another relevant term.
